Privacy Policy
Last Updated: August 20, 2026
Dial Scout is operated by LumeWorks LLC ("we," "our," or "us"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the Dial Scout website at www.dialscout.io and related services.
If you do not agree with the terms of this Privacy Policy, please do not use the website.
1. Information We Collect
We collect several types of information to provide and improve the Dial Scout experience.
Account Information
Dial Scout uses passwordless, magic-link email authentication provided by Supabase. When you choose to save your profile, we collect:
- Your email address
- An optional opt-in preference indicating whether you would like to receive product updates from us
Profile and Preference Information
During the onboarding flow, you may voluntarily provide responses to two short sets of questions. The first set captures background context:
- The size of your current watch collection
- Your budget for your next watch
- Where you are in your watch search (browsing, researching, ready to buy, or shopping for something specific)
- Your self-described experience level
- What matters most to you when choosing a watch (design, story or heritage, movement or craftsmanship, or value)
Taste Preferences
The second set captures aesthetic preferences:
- Era preference (vintage character vs. modern precision)
- Occasion (everyday vs. dressier wear)
- Case material preference
- Strap preference
- Movement preference (mechanical, quartz, or no preference)
Usage and Interaction Data
When you use Dial Scout, we automatically collect information about how you interact with the site, including:
- Watches you swipe, like, dislike, or save
- Surfaces you visit (Scout, Explore, Browse, Saved)
- Session activity and time spent on the website
- Aggregate timing of recommendation impressions
- Outbound clicks from Dial Scout to a brand's own site (which watch, which page you clicked from, and the destination link)
- How you first arrived at Dial Scout, such as a referring site or the campaign link you followed
Local Storage
Dial Scout uses your browser's localStorage and sessionStorage to persist your taste profile, saved watches, and minor UI preferences (such as whether you have seen the first-run tour) on your device. When you save your profile by signing in, this data is also mirrored to our servers so your profile follows you across devices.
Analytics and Diagnostic Information
We maintain internal analytics tables within our database (Supabase) that record impression and swipe events tied to your account. Our hosting provider may collect routine network-level diagnostic information such as IP address, browser user-agent, operating system, and timestamps for security and stability purposes.
We also use a small number of third-party measurement tools: Microsoft Clarity, which helps us understand how visitors use the site (pages visited, scrolling, and interaction patterns), and the Meta Pixel, which helps us measure whether our advertising reaches people who find Dial Scout useful. These tools may set cookies or use similar identifiers in your browser. They load only if you allow them in the cookie notice shown on your first visit; declining keeps them off entirely, and clearing this site's browser data resets the choice.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use collected information to:
- Create and maintain user accounts
- Provide personalized watch recommendations
- Improve recommendation algorithms
- Analyze usage patterns and product performance
- Diagnose technical issues and improve site stability
- Develop new features and functionality
3. Sharing of Information
We do not sell your personal information.
We may share information with trusted service providers that help operate the website, including:
- Supabase (authentication, data storage, and analytics infrastructure)
- Resend (transactional email delivery for magic-link sign-in)
- Vercel (website hosting and deployment)
- Microsoft Clarity (site usage analytics)
- Meta Platforms (advertising measurement)
Aggregate Brand Data
We may share anonymized, aggregate preference and engagement data with watch brands and partners. This means trends in what our visitors collectively like and dislike, along with aggregate engagement reports such as how many times a brand's watches were viewed, saved, or clicked through to the brand's own site over a period. When you click through to a brand's site, the link carries campaign parameters that tell the brand the visit came from Dial Scout; those parameters describe the watch and the page the click came from, never you. Shared data never includes information that identifies you personally, your email, your account, or your specific swipe history.
We may also disclose information if required to comply with applicable law or legal obligations.
4. Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as necessary to operate the Dial Scout service.
If you delete your account, personally identifiable information associated with your account will be deleted. Certain usage data may be retained in anonymized or aggregated form that cannot reasonably be used to identify you. This anonymized data may be used for analytics and to improve recommendation systems.
5. Account Deletion
You may delete your account at any time from within the Dial Scout account page.
When you delete your account, your account profile and identifiable information will be permanently removed from our systems. Anonymized interaction data may be retained for analytical purposes.
6. Data Security
We implement reasonable technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect your information. However, no electronic transmission or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
7. Children's Privacy
Dial Scout is not intended for individuals under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that information from a child under 13 has been collected, we will take steps to delete it.
8. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When changes are made, the updated policy will be posted on the website with an updated "Last Updated" date.
